Get rythm (Joaquin Phoenix / Johnny Cash)
Hey get rhythm when you get the blues
C'mon get rhythm when you get the blues
Get a rock and roll feelin' in your bones
Get taps on your toes and get gone
Get rhythm when you get the blues
A little shoeshine boy he never gets lowdown
But he's got the dirtiest job in town
Bendin' low at the people's feet
On a windy corner of a dirty street
Well I asked him while he shined my shoes
How'd he keep from gettin' the blues
He grinned as he raised his little head
He popped his shoeshine rag and then he said
Get rhythm when you get the blues
C'mon get rhythm when you get the blues
Yes a jumpy rhythm makes you feel so fine
It'll shake all your troubles from your worried mind
Get rhythm when you get the blues
Get rhythm when you get the blues
Get rhythm when you get the blues
C'mon get rhythm when you get the blues
Get a rock and roll feelin' in your bones
Get taps on your toes and get gone
Get rhythm when you get the blues
Well I sat and listened to the sunshine boy
I thought I was gonna jump with joy
He slapped on the shoe polish left and right
He took his shoeshine rag and he held it tight
He stopped once to wipe the sweat away
I said you mighty little boy to be a workin' that way
He said I like it with a big wide grin
Kept on a poppin' and he'd say it again
Get rhythm when you get the blues
C'mon get rhythm when you get the blues
It only cost a dime just a nickel a shoe
It does a million dollars worth of good for you
Get rhythm when you get the blues
For the good times (Kris Kristofferson)
Don't look so sad. I know it's over
But life goes on and this world keeps on turning
Let's just be glad we had this time to spend together
There is no need to watch the bridges that we're burning
Lay your head upon my pillow
Hold your warm and tender body close to mine
Hear the whisper of the raindrops
Blow softly against my window
Make believe you love me one more time
For the good times
I'll get along; you'll find another,
And I'll be here if you should find you ever need me.
Don't say a word about tomorrow or forever,
There'll be time enough for sadness when you leave me.
Lay your head upon my pillow
Hold your warm and tender body Close to mine
Hear the whisper of the raindrops
Blow softly against my window
Make believe you love me
One more time
For the good times

David Kenneth Ritz Van Ronk (June 30, 1936 – February 10, 2002) was an American folk singer. An important figure in the American folk music revival and New York City's Greenwich Village scene in the 1960s, he was nicknamed the "Mayor of MacDougal Street".
Van Ronk's work ranged from old English ballads to blues, gospel, rock, New Orleans jazz, and swing. He was also known for performing instrumental ragtime guitar music, especially his transcription of "St. Louis Tickle" and Scott Joplin's "Maple Leaf Rag".
Van Ronk was a widely admired avuncular figure in "the Village", presiding over the coffeehouse folk culture and acting as a friend to many up-and-coming
artists by inspiring, assisting, and promoting them. Folk performers he befriended include Bob Dylan, Tom Paxton, Patrick Sky, Phil Ochs, Ramblin' Jack Elliott,
and Joni Mitchell.
Dylan recorded Van Ronk's arrangement of the traditional song
"House of the Rising Sun" on his first album, which the Animals turned into
a chart-topping rock single in 1964, helping inaugurate the folk-rock movement.
Van Ronk received a Lifetime Achievement Award from
the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) in
December 1997. He died in a New York hospital of cardiopulmonary failure
while undergoing postoperative treatment for colon cancer.
Another time and place (Dave van Ronk)
When first I met you years ago In another time and place
A thought came to my mind I'd never seen a kinder face
Or warmer laugh and gentler smile Or eyes so full of light
I'd be a fool if I didn't fall In love with you that night
We've tramped around the world my dear Our fortune was to roam
But each place that I've been with you That place has been my home
If now I wander on alone With no place to abide
I'll be content for I was sent Those wanderings at your side
Love that blossoms in the night Can't stand the test of time
It ebbs and flows it comes and goes No reason reach nor rhyme
As each day becomes another day Each year another year
I'd trade a year in heaven For a day with you my dear
The miles flow on and I am gone To a wild and empty land
Where time's like an empty room And space an empty hand
And the things we said and the jokes we made Are echoes in the waste
We'll meet again when hills are green In another time and place

Hang me, Oh, hang me (Dave van Ronk)
Hang me, oh, hang me, I'll be dead and gone.
Hang me, oh, hang me, I'll be dead and gone.
I wouldn't mind the hanging but the laying in the grave so long
Poor boy, I've been all around this world.
I been all around Cape Girardeau, parts of Arkansas
All around Cape Girardeau, parts of Arkansas
Got so goddamn hungry I could hide behind a straw
Poor boy, I've been all around this world.
Went up on the mountain, there I made my stand
Went up on the mountain, there I made my stand
A rifle on my shoulder and a dagger in my hand
Poor boy, I've been all around this world.
Hang me, oh, hang me and I'll be dead and gone.
Hang me, oh, hang me and I'll be dead and gone.
I wouldn't mind the hanging but the laying in the grave so long
Poor boy, I've been all around this world.
Put the rope around my neck, hung me up so high
Put the rope around my neck, hung me up so high
The last words I heard them say: "Won't be long now 'fore you die"
Poor boy, I've been all around this world.
Hang me, oh, hang me and I'll be dead and gone.
Hang me, oh, hang me, I'll be dead and gone.
I wouldn't mind the hanging but the laying in the grave so long
Poor boy, I've been all around this world.

Charles Hardin Holley (September 7, 1936 – February 3, 1959), known professionally as Buddy Holly, was an American musician and
singer-songwriter who was a central and pioneering figure of mid-1950s
He was born in Lubbock, Texas, to a musical family during the Great
Depression, and learned to play guitar and sing alongside his siblings.
His style was influenced by gospel music, country music, and rhythm
and blues acts, which he performed in Lubbock with his friends from
high school.
He made his first appearance on local television in 1952, and the
following year he formed the group "Buddy and Bob" with his friend
Bob Montgomery. In 1955, after opening for Elvis Presley, he decided
to pursue a career in music. He opened for Presley three times that year;
his band's style shifted from country and western to entirely rock and
roll. In October that year, when he opened for Bill Haley & His Comets,
he was spotted by Nashville scout Eddie Crandall, who helped him get
a contract with Decca Records.
Holly's recording sessions at Decca were produced by Owen Bradley,
who had become famous for producing orchestrated country hits for s
tars like Patsy Cline. Unhappy with Bradley's musical style and control
in the studio, Holly went to producer Norman Petty in Clovis,
New Mexico, and recorded a demo of "That'll Be the Day", among
other songs.
Petty became the band's manager and sent the demo to Brunswick
Records, which released it as a single credited to "The Crickets",
which became the name of Holly's band. In September 1957, as the
band toured, "That'll Be the Day" topped the US and UK singles
charts. Its success was followed in October by another major hit,
"Peggy Sue".
The album Chirping Crickets, released in November 1957, reached
number five on the UK Albums Chart. Holly made his second
appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show in January 1958 and soon after,
toured Australia and then the UK. In early 1959, he assembled a new
band, consisting of future country music star Waylon Jennings (bass),
famed session musician Tommy Allsup (guitar), and Carl Bunch
(drums), and embarked on a tour of the midwestern U.S. After a show
in Clear Lake, Iowa, he chartered an airplane to travel to his next
show, in Moorhead, Minnesota. Soon after takeoff, the plane crashed,
killing Holly, Ritchie Valens, The Big Bopper, and pilot
Roger Peterson in a tragedy later referred to by Don McLean as
During his short career, Holly wrote and recorded several songs.
He is often regarded as the artist who defined the traditional
rock-and-roll lineup of two guitars, bass, and drums. He was a
major influence on later popular music artists, including Elvis
Presley, Bob Dylan, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Eric
Clapton, Elvis Costello, Marshall Crenshaw (who later played
Holly), and Elton John. He was among the first artists inducted
into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, in 1986. Rolling Stone
magazine ranked him number 13 in its list of
"100 Greatest Artists".
Everyday (Buddy Holly)
Everyday it's a-gettin' closer
Goin' faster than a rollercoaster
Love like yours will surely come my way
A-hey, a-hey-hey
Everyday it's a-gettin' faster
Everyone said, "Go ahead and ask her"
Love like yours will surely come my way
A-hey, a-hey-hey
Everyday seems a little longer
Every way love's a little stronger
Come what may
Do you ever long for true love from me
Everyday it's a-gettin' closer
Goin' faster than a rollercoaster
Love like yours will surely come my way
A-hey, a-hey-hey
Everyday seems a little longer
Every way love's a little stronger
Come what may
Do you ever long for true love from me
Everyday it's a-gettin' closer
Goin' faster than a rollercoaster
Love like yours will surely come my way
A-hey, a-hey-hey
Love like yours will surely come my way

INTERVIEWS / DOCUMENTARY
That'll be the day (Buddy Holly)
Well, that'll be the day when you say goodbye
Yes, that'll be the day when you make me cry
You say you gonna leave, you know it's a lie
'Cause that'll be the day when I die
Well, you give me all your lovin' and your turtle dovin'
All your hugs and kisses and your money, too
Well, you know you love me, baby
Still you tell me, maybe
That some day, well, I'll be blue
Well, that'll be the day when you say goodbye
Yes, that'll be the day when you make me cry
You say you gonna leave, you know it's a lie
'Cause that'll be the day when I die
Well, that'll be the day when you say goodbye
Yes, that'll be the day when you make me cry
You say you gonna leave, you know it's a lie
'Cause that'll be the day when I die
Well, when Cupid shot his dart
He shot it at your heart
So if we ever part and I leave you
You say you told me, an' you told me boldly
That someday, well, I'll be blue
Well, that'll be the day when you say goodbye
Yes, that'll be the day when you make me cry
You say you gonna leave, you know it's a lie
'Cause that'll be the day when I die
Well that'll be the day, ooh hoo
That'll be the day, ooh hoo
That'll be the day, ooh hoo
That'll be the day
